Coleman Spilde, entertainment critic, in front of a brick wall

i’m coleman (he/his), a writer, critic, and voracious pop culture connoisseur. nothing is more fulfilling for me than taking the time to experience a vision through art. in my work, i use my innate understanding of the zeitgeist alongside my perspective as queer person to dissect, analyze, and celebrate culture. i look for the minutiae that makes something great—or, at the very least, memorable—to create beautiful experiences that engage people with art in meaningful, wryly funny ways.

i believe that pop culture archival and analysis can affect people deeply, and that’s why i’m so passionate about it. my work is a conduit that helps people understand why art is important (or, why something poorly made can be fascinating to look deeper at!).

i specialize in critical essays, short, pithy blogs, and reviews of films, television shows, and music. i’ve interviewed and profiled actors, filmmakers, and musicians (luca guadagnino, mia goth, trace lysette, king princess, law roach, meg stalter, chelsea peretti, taylor russell, chloë sevigny, ti west, and a gaggle of real housewives, to name a few) and have covered sxsw, the new york film festival, sundance, bravocon, and others. if you can’t tell, i really love doing this shit. and i know how to make you and everyone you know love it too.

thanks for reading, now let’s work together! 💖
